Elliot Mills – Senior Associate, Grant Thornton Australia
Grant Thornton Australia Senior Associate Elliot Cyrus Mills entered the energy industry six years ago in Dubai, where he held various financial and commercial roles for Oil & Gas service providers.
After 4 years of working in Dubai, Elliot moved to Perth to pursue his MBA at Curtin University, focusing on mineral and energy economics. “The experience was incredible and gave me the opportunity to meet some great people, both professors and students,” Elliot said. “I had the opportunity to study fascinating subjects and develop skills that would help me progress in my career.” During his Masters, Elliot held internships at Qamar Energy and PwC.
After completing his studies, Elliot briefly worked in the mining industry at South32, but returned to the energy sector when he joined the team at Grant Thornton Australia. Grant Thornton is an international professional services firm that provides audit, tax and advisory services to a number of industries including energy and resources.
It was during this time that Elliot became a member of the Energy Club WA. “I’m continuously learning about the ever-evolving energy industry,” he said. “Keeping up to date on industry trends allows me to interact with clients and peers on topics that interest me and that are important to them.”
Elliot enjoys being a part of an organisation with like-minded individuals who share the same interests. He became an Energy Club Young Professionals committee member earlier this year. The Young Professionals recently hosted an event featuring Hazer Group commercial manager Luc Kox, Fortescue Future Industries hydrogen technology lead Rachelle Doyle, and Pinsent Mason's consultant Katie Williams, sharing their experiences with the transitioning energy industry.
When Elliot’s not working, he enjoys travelling and playing racket sports, golf and soccer.
