Family man and footy fan Richard Stocker is all for having fun outside of the workplace, but during office hours he works tirelessly to reduce failures, increase asset life and maintain the hydrocarbon envelope.
“I started off my career by completing two traineeships. The first in Engineering with ALS Industrial and the second with Wesfarmers CSBP in Process Plant Operations,” said Stocker.
“Since then I’ve been mostly involved in the NDT industry in the Pilbara as an Operations Supervisor, then looking after multiple states as an Operations Manager.”
Richards’s most recent post is with Stork, a Fluor Company where he handles business development for the Asia & Pacific region.
"We're a leading provider of Asset Integrity Services to the global oil and gas market. Our Integrated Assess, Inspect and Repair (AIR) approach enables us to manage asset risk and integrity throughout the life cycle; from original plant design right through to decommissioning. Services include Non-Destructive Testing, Heat Treatment, Flange Management and Asset Integrity Engineering.”
“As the Business Development Director, I’m responsible for developing Stork’s business line, regional sales policy and yearly strategic plan for the Asia & Pacific Region.”
“My job revolves around acquiring and retaining new clients and building and strengthening strategic relations in line with global and regional sales policy, procedures and instruments to develop new business and realise commercial objectives,” continued Stocker.
The veteran of the Oil & Gas industry has been involved with the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (AINDT) for the past five years and was appointed as the national body’s Director late last year, along with being the WA Branch President.
“The Institute is a not-for-profit association that has represented the NDT industry as the peak body in Australia since 1963. The institute is part of the international community of NDT and is represented on the Executive Committee of ICNDT and also has voting rights as a member of the General Assembly.”
The NDT Specialist has been a Petroleum Club of WA member since November 2016 and first got involved because of the social and networking opportunities offered by the club as well as for the insightful guest speakers and for the chance to speak with likeminded people about the industry.
Outside of the office, Stocker is still a keen footballer who plays for the “Mighty Belmont Bombers” and recently celebrated the birth of his first.
