Member under the microscope – Beau Mavric
Beau Mavric, TechnipFMC – Project Engineer | Shell Prelude FLNG Project
Born and raised in Perth, Beau Mavric has already amassed a catalogue of experience in his seven years in the oil and gas industry.
After joining TechnipFMC as part of their graduate program straight out of University, Beau swiftly moved up the ranks before being asked to work on the ‘career-defining’ Prelude FLNG project.
Prelude was constructed by the Technip Samsung Consortium at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, with TechnipFMC providing the project management, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning for the world-first project.
Beau, who is also leading TechnipFMC Australia’s Digital Task Force says that he’s been uniquely privileged to gain experience and contribute to so many facets of this landmark project.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work in Indonesia, Korea at Samsung Heavy Industries, eight months offshore, and now I’m returning onshore for the final remaining scope,” said Mavric.
While living away from Perth has been a great professional experience for Beau, it has reminded him how fortunate Western Australian’s are to have such an expansive outdoor offering on their doorstep.
“I try to get away from the city as often as I can and explore our beautiful state. My next adventure will take me up to Ninghan Station in the Mid-West,” said Mavric.
The engineer’s devotion to the state is not limited to his leisure activities either, with his support also firmly behind the Petroleum Club of WA (PCWA).
“Being a Western Australian, I like that the PCWA’s efforts are focused on supporting the local industry and the community. Case in point is the long-running Next Generation Schools program, which does fantastic work to ensure a future for our industry.
“I am proud to be associated with an organisation that ventures to the far corners of the state to educate and promote the industry it is passionate about,” said Mavric.
Beau has also been impressed by the reception and support that the PCWA Young Professionals (YPs) have received since establishing themselves after the committee’s inaugural year.
“Awards such as the Young Professional of the Year, which I gratefully received in 2018, provide an excellent opportunity to recognise our peers and reflect on the broader YP achievements.
“I hope members continue to support and see value in the initiatives the YPs are injecting to the association,” finalised Mavric.
